The story

History: facts, each with its source

Toyota built the S family from January 1980 to August 2007. Wikipedia lists the 2.0L 3S-GTE turbo in North American Celica All-Tracs from 1986 and MR2s from 1991 to 1995, and the 2.2L 5S-FE in the Celica, the MR2 and the Camry.1

Hagerty calls the turbo engine far more desirable in the MR2, and its 200 hp and 200 lb-ft nicely square. It says the 5S-FE's power comes low in the rev range.2
