In one IH8MUD thread, three members back the 5.7L. One calls the drivetrain fairly solid in the trucks that have it, the owner of a 2012 reports zero issues, and an owner of a 1st gen recommends it for towing. On fuel, one says 14 mpg is standard, and the 2012 owner averaged 12.8 mpg around town.³
